GREEN BEANS WITH LEMON AND GARLIC
A simple side dish to accompany any main meal – fresh, crunchy and wholesome.
Ingredients
- 250g green beans
- ½ lemon
- 2 garlic cloves
- 50g butter
- ½ tsp red chilli flakes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
Method
Trim the ends off the green beans and cut the lemon into thick round slices, removing any seeds.
In a pan on medium high heat, add butter. Once the butter has melted add the green beans and slices of lemon. Allow to simmer for a minute before adding crushed garlic, chilli flakes, salt and pepper. Toss to coat beans well.
Cook for another 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn heat down slightly if the beans are starting to burn.
Enjoy while warm. For an additional crunch add lightly toasted almonds or pumpkin seeds.
